At many workplaces and public spaces, pollutant emissions such as smoke, soot particles, fine dust, or viruses arise, which enter the lungs through the nose, throat, and trachea. These can cause asthma, chronic cough, bronchitis, or other respiratory diseases including lung cancer. With the swiss air respiratory protection system from optrel, you enjoy fresh air completely independent of your activity and your other personal protective equipment (PPE). The core element of the swiss air blower respiratory protection system from optrel is a ventilated half mask that completely covers the mouth and nose area and supplies it with purified air. An airspace is created around the mouth and nose, which, thanks to overpressure, supports the user’s breathing and eliminates the exhausting breathing resistance.
The half mask, made from high-tech fabric, is designed so that it can be individually and perfectly adjusted thanks to a freely adjustable head strap. This concept eliminates the need for elaborate fit tests, which are common with conventional half masks.
The clean air is supplied via a Y-tube from a miniaturized blower system, which is comfortably worn on the back by a carrying unit. In this way, the user is constantly in an “overpressure air system,” which permanently protects their airways against contaminated air.

TH3 / TM3 Respiratory Protection
TH3 and TM3 are protection levels for respiratory protection equipment (RPE) classified according to European standards. Both refer to powered air purifying respirators (PAPR) like our swiss air. They are based on sufficient airflow and overpressure to prevent the ingress of contaminants. However, they apply to different types of face masks or head coverings.

At workplaces where hazardous substances such as fine dust, gases, vapors, or smoke frequently occur, the use of suitable respiratory protection is especially important. To optimally protect the user, there are two application-specific versions of the swiss air respiratory protection.
The main filters of both variants have the following properties:
- The particle filter primarily filters pollutants from the air. These include fine dust, smoke, vapors, and viruses. These often arise during welding, grinding, cutting, or drilling of various materials. Basically, this type of filter is often lighter than a combination filter and thus offers higher wearing comfort. Additionally, it is easy to install and replace.
- The combination filter ABE1P also provides particularly high protection against gases, aerosols, and viruses, which frequently occur in certain work processes, for example when handling chemicals or solvents. A combination filter of this kind offers comprehensive protection when different material uses lead to different hazard sources.
Due to the different sizes of the main filters, which result from the requirements of their function, the dimensions of the supplementary filters also vary. This should be taken into account when ordering replacement filters.
Since the particle filter is not specialized for gases, unpleasant odors may still be inhaled. When used in rooms or environments with unpleasant odors, the pre-filter can be replaced by a mountain breeze odor filter. This additionally neutralizes unpleasant odors alongside the functions of the pre-filter.

The mountain breeze filter is an odor filter and can be used instead of the pre-filter. Are you welding oily, painted, corrosion-protected, or other surfaces that produce unpleasant odors? With the new mountain breeze odor filter, you won’t notice them anymore!
Pre-Filter
The pre-filter handles the coarsest work in the filtering system and needs to be replaced most frequently. It protects the filters behind it. Regular replacement of the pre-filter also extends the lifespan of the main particle filter.

The swiss air powered air-purifying respirator (PAPR) from optrel is available with two different mask types, each offering specific advantages depending on the application and user requirements. Both masks are compatible with the swiss air system and provide high respiratory protection. The choice depends on individual preferences and specific needs.
Cloth Mask “Loose Fit” – Light and Flexible
The black cloth mask is foldable and features a high-performance design for an elegant appearance. It is ultra-lightweight and adapts dynamically to your breathing – the mask “moves with you.” The replaceable nose foam increases hygiene and allows for longer use. Ideal for users who value unrestricted freedom of movement and all-day wearing comfort.
The cloth half mask offers protection class TH3, protecting the wearer from particles, vapors, and gases in the air, supplying up to 99.8% pure air. It is therefore suitable for all work in environments with medium to high contaminant concentrations or for extended use.
No fit test is required for TH3 protection, making the mask easy to use and ready to wear immediately. Thanks to the individually adjustable size, the cloth mask fits particularly well to different face shapes, e.g., narrow faces, which are common among women.
Silicone Mask "tight fit" – robust and size-compliant
The close-fitting silicone mask is equipped with an integrated viewing window for better visibility. It is available in three sizes (S, M, L) and offers a secure fit for a variety of face shapes. Its light color promotes hygienic use, while the rigid mask body remains stable during breathing – ideal for users who prefer a firm shape and clear vision. Perfect for anyone who values a secure fit and clear communication through the transparent window.
The silicone mask achieves protection class TM3 when a regular seal fit test is performed, and smooth skin (no facial hair) as well as a complete ventilation mode are ensured. To achieve this, we offer different sizes. With TM3 protection, the wearer benefits from up to 99.95% pure air. If these criteria are not met, the wearer still benefits from TH3 protection. Especially during prolonged use in environments with high concentrations of hazardous particles or toxic gases and without quick access to fresh air, the higher TM3 protection of a silicone mask provides additional safety.
